Nerve Conduction Velocity(NCV) & Electromyography(EMG) ★Nerve Conduction Velocity(NCV) A nerve conduction velocity test (NCV) is an electrical test that is used to determine the adequacy of the conduction of the nerve impulse as it courses down a nerve. (In this test, the nerve is electrically stimulated through needles.) This test is used to detect signs of peripheral nerve injury. ★Electromyography(EMG) Electromyography (EMG) is an electrical recording of muscle activity that aids in the diagnosis of neuromuscular disease. (In this test, the muscle is electrically stimulated through needles.) Indications 1. motorneurone diseases 2. radiculopathies 3. nerve entrapment syndromes 4. various neuropathies 5. various cranial neuropathies(ex, facial nerve palsy,etc) 6. injuries of peripheral nerves (trauma) 7. various peripheral neuropathies 8. muscular diseases 9. Myasthenia gravis
