Net metering enables a household with solar or wind power to run the meter backwards and actually sell excess power back to the utility company. The Utility companies dont like that and ALEC has legislation that would cost these households. The fact is that by selling excess solar or wind power to energy companies, it helps them by their not having to build new power plants so they should be paying these homeowners costs to install solar or wind in the first place. Germany enacted exactly that and it was a win/win for them. Not so much for greedy people in the US who want total corporate domination over every aspect of our lives and to keep us slaves to fossil fuels and non-competitive utility companies.
