Netflix and I had our ten year anniversary this month. I never dreamed we’d make it this far together, but I’m oh so glad we did. Over the years this simple service has spared me countless hours of boredom, cost me countless hours in procrastination and sleep deprivation and quietly saved me incalculable late fees. After a full decade of deep algorithmic media analysis, Netflix knows every last one of my guilty pleasures and doesn’t judge me one bit - instead it confidently decants my viewing preferences into just six adjectives: Absurd, Cerebral, Dark, Quirky, Understated, and Witty. Netflix knows me so well - a smile was just what I wanted for our anniversary.
