Netherlands inflicts 2nd defeat to Nepal Netherlands registered a comfortable five-wicket victory over Nepal to inflicted second defeat in the fifth match of ICC World T20 Qualifiers held on Wednesday at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in UAE. Nepali players failed in both batting and bowling departments as Netherlands achieved the modest target of 108 runs in 16.2 over losing five wickets. Opener Stephen Myburgh scored the highest 31 runs for Netherlands followed by not out 21 runs of Eric Szwarczynski. Despite losing wickets in regular interval, most of the Dutch batsmen came up with notable contribution scoring double digit figure. Michael Swart (3) was the only batsman to score single digit figure. Opener Myburgh smashed five fours and a six in his innings of 20 balls while Szwarczynski struck a foul in his 28 balls knock. Wesley Barresi (11), Daan Van Bunge (11), Peter Borren (17) and BN Cooper (not out 12) were the other batsmen to contribute for Netherlands. Basanta Regmi was the most successful bowler for Nepal claiming three wickets in his four over spell giving away 12 runs. Skipper Paras Khadka claimed one wicket in his 3.2 over spell conceding 23 runs and Shakti Gauchan claimed one wicket in his four over spell giving 29 runs. Sagar Pun was the most expensive bowler giving 11 runs in his one over bowling while Jeetendra Mukhiya gave nine run in his two over bowling. Earlier after being invited to bat first, Nepal made a slow start and was tottering at 58/3 after the completion of 14th over. But Nepal earned 49 runs in the last six over taking the score 107/6 at the close. Vice captain Gyanendra Malla top scored for Nepal with 44 runs off 55. Binod Bhandari scored 29 off 26 run while opener Subash Khakurel contributed 11 runs. Opener Sagar Pun (6), skipper Paras Khadka (5) and Sarad Vesawkar (6) were out cheaply. Pradeep Airee and Basanta Regmi were unbeaten for 1 run each. Nepal failed to pick single run in the fourth over and collected single run in the sixth over. Similarly, Nepal picked two runs each in the seventh and eighth over each. Similarly, three runs each in the Over 9th, 10th, 13th and 14th over each. Mudassar Bukhari was the peak of bowling claiming three wickets in his with a maiden in his four over spell conceding 15 runs. Ahsan Malik pocketed two wickets giving away 29 run in his four over bowling and Michael Rippon picked one wicket giving 10 runs in his two over spell. Nepal was defeated by Scotland and beat Denmark, Kenya and Papua New Guinea in its last four matches of the Qualifiers. Similarly, Netherlands was defeated by Papua New Guinea and beat Afghanistan, Bermuda and Denmark.
