Network Marketing Tip for Today: Starting a Conversation - Not Pitching Your Business When you are starting a conversation with people do you go straight into pitch mode about your business or do a start a real conversation? In todays video and post this is how you should be starting a conversation... When you are starting a conversation your goal here is to get to know that person you are talking to. And that is it! You should never go into pitch mode about your business. In your conversation with that person yes your dialogue should be a two way street... It is not a one way street where you are just pitching someone your business opportunity. Here is a major tip... never talk about you! You have two goals in starting a conversation with anyone you meet... 1. Getting to know that person that you are in conversation with. 2. Identifying whether they are a good fit for you and your business. When in conversation with someone what should you talk about? Everything... find out everything you can about that person. So you are asking questions and what you will find is that person you are conversing with will start telling you lots of things. You see people love to talk about themselves... they are not overly interested in what you have to say. So your goal in every conversation that you have is to let that person talk to you and all you do is ask questions. So lets go back to your two goals above when starting a conversation... 1. Getting to know that person that you are in conversation with. 2. Identifying whether they are a good fit for you and your business. So why are you getting to know the person you are talking to? Well you want to understand them... where they currently are in life... because if you listen they will tell you. For example... there is a guy I have been talking with at the gym over the past few weeks. I have seen him training in the gym for years. We tend to just get on with it and train. We just happened to be running on a treadmill next to each other and then we started a conversation. Now every conversation I have... I never have a hidden agenda... I just listen. Now after being on the treadmill for half an hour with this guy... I knew everything about him. I know where he works, where he lives, his plans for the future, the whole works. I spent the whole time listening... he doesnt know a thing about me... because I didnt talk about me. Ok so that example is my first goal in starting a conversation... getting to know that person! So lets look at the second goal. We will go back to my conversation with the guy in the gym. After being in conversation with this guy and getting to know him... I can sum up that he is not a good fit for my business... nor me. So would I talk about my business opportunity with him? Of course not! He has already told me his life story and his plans for the future... and that doesnt fit in with my business plans. You know that is ok! He doesnt have to fit in with my plans... not everyone is going to fit into my door. So that doesnt mean I am never going to converse with him again... just because he is not a good fit for my business. It is not about that... you just want to build relationships because you never know where you are going to meet that person who will be a good fit for your business. So that has to be your approach. You cant just expect that everyone will fit into your door and want to do what you are doing. It doesnt work that way. So where do you go from here? Just get out there and practice that conversation muscle. You are starting a conversation with no hidden agenda. and just have those two goals in the back of your mind when you are in conversation. To your abundance, Did today’s tip Starting a Conversation - Not Pitching Your Business help you? If so, I would greatly appreciate you leaving a comment below and share with your friends.
