Network Rail needs to undertake essential vegetation works along the railway around the Kettering area. This work is in preparation for the line to be electrified and will involve removing trees, vegetation and overhanging branches 6 metres from the operational railway with steep cutting slopes cleared to the boundary. This is to allow for overhead line equipment to be installed and become operational. Work will take place between Bedford Station and Kettering Station, between 01 October 2014 and 28 February 2015. For safety reasons, much of this work can only be carried out at night, when trains are not running, and due to the nature of the equipment some disturbance is unavoidable. A ground team will also be used during daytime hours to remove the vegetation from the site and take it away for disposal.
