Never Give Up | Day 16 The great inventor, Thomas Edison once said: ”Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” How much more should this be true for those that seek God? Knowing about the power of God should infuse within each of us a confidence that is beyond our own circumstances. This is what the Palmist was reflecting on as He wrote this portion of today’s reading. Even though he faced outward persecution and affliction from others, inwardly he remained focused on God’s promises. With each new year, you can expect new problems, new temptations, and new struggles. Therefore, make a wise choice and set your confidence completely on God’s Word. There is great comfort to found in the security of God’s promises. Never give up because God’s the strength of God’s promises will never let up. “Remember the word to Your servant, Upon which You have caused me to hope. 50 This is my comfort in my affliction, For Your word has given me life. 51 The proud have me in great derision, Yet I do not turn aside from Your law. 52 I remembered Your judgments of old, O Lord, And have comforted myself. 53 Indignation has taken hold of me Because of the wicked, who forsake Your law. 54 Your statutes have been my songs In the house of my pilgrimage. 55 I remember Your name in the night, O Lord, And I keep Your law. 56 This has become mine, Because I kept Your precepts.” - Psalm 119: 49-56
