Never a dull moment when dealing with our County Commission! After looking DOA, the sales tax is now back on the discussion block for next week’s BCC Meeting. Commissioner Arnett is placing a formal proposal (Ordinance) on the table for discussion on August 20. Basically, it involves a ½ cent increase in the sales tax for two years to cover the County and the five cities in Marion County funding for rehabilitation of roads and related stormwater facilities, and for the purchase of public safety vehicles and other capital infrastructure for law enforcement and fire/EMS services. Commissioner Arnett is proposing a Public Hearing on the topic for September 2.
