Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has. Jeff Bezos founded Amazon in 1994 as a online bookstore in his garage, Steve Jobs started selling Apple computer in his parents home, Walt Disney’s uncle allowed Walt to use his cramped one car garage to set up his animation company, Larry Page and Sergey Brin started building a search engine from a friends bonus room in his house and what we now know as Google. Jan Koum the founder of WhatsApp was raised dirt poor in a small town in the Ukraine, living in a small apartment with no hot water, and on food stamps, his mother had cancer and lived off of disability allowance. By 18 he taught himself computer networking, he got a basic job at yahoo but was fired, later he and a friend traveled around the world to just hangout and an idea came to him, IM without the need of a carrier. They figured out how to build it with people who wanted to help for free. Later WhatsApp sold to Mark Zuckerberg for $19 billion dollars and all of the helpers turned into multi millionaires. There are so many of these types of stories...Harley Davidson, Hewlett-Packard, Richard Branson’s Virgin Brand, and Youtube. and many more. The point is, everything starts from nothing, but with an idea is all it took. It wasn’t that they knew how big their company would be, that wasn’t their reason to start. It was knowing what was missing, and what was needed around the corner, in the future. And if it wasnt needed, well then create the need, and soon become the gap filler, the leader. This is the key to success. Insight. No doubt, no fear. It’s easy to look at the world’s largest companies and think today “I could never start something like that” And you’d be right. For inaction mindsets breeds doubt and fear. Action mindsets breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit and mere talk about it. Go out and get busy and do it.
