Never fear change: learn to embrace it. 2014 has been a turbulent year for me and Vikki, with the loss of a grandparent each and then an enforced house move. Horrible, unfortunate events are a part of life that we have to accept. Learning that, beyond the pain, sadness, confusion and disappointment lay, simply, a new version of your life, opens your eyes to opportunities you may otherwise be blind to. Without the sad events of 2014 we wouldnt have ended up where we are now (you know, all those photos Ive been boring you poor buggers senseless with since September) and, genuinely, I have stumbled across a place I never knew existed and never knew I needed but know I never want to leave! It is some kind of mythical sanctuary to me. Ive just spent the best part of an hour, wandering around outside in the rain, wind and cold marvelling at the still breathtaking views; finding myself laughing out loud to no-one but myself at the privileged position I am in. And I mean that in the most humble and sincerest way. I dont believe in luck, good or bad. Sometimes life deals you a rotten card but that is the same for everyone. Truthfully, we all have pretty much equal amounts of good or bad luck as everyone else (the exceptions proving the rule). So, why do some people seem lucky where others do not? I think it is to do with being able to spot an opportunity when one arising and to grab it, combined with not dwelling on the bad stuff for too long. If you dwell for too long, or start thinking of yourself as unlucky, all you are doing is training yourself to only see the bad and never recognise the good. If you find yourself saying knowing my luck, you probably need to rethink your outlook and approach. You are creating your own self-fulfilling prophecy right there. Throughout all the shit stuff of 2014, I knew ONE thing for an absolute certainty: it would all end up OK and it would all end up being better. Quite by how much, I only dared to imagine. This time around, I hit the jackpot. If you put yourself onto the path of Great Things, you are way more likely to find them than if you dont. You dont HAVE to play with the cards you are dealt - DEMAND a fresh deck!
