Never should a child go hungry to school, and sit through hours of lecture while their stomachs scream and their little heads pound. Never should a man’s heart be harder than his hands because it was molded by archaic gender roles and baptized in a violent, competitive, numb, heteronormative culture. Never should a woman have her uterus stabbed by a dirty, sharp stick because a group of old white men legislated their morality. Never should an LGBTQ youth gash their wrists and bleed out alone because they were relentlessly bullied and rejected. Never should a minority be denied housing, employment, education or healthcare because of the color of their skin. Never should a human being spend their entire lives working brutal, vulgarizing, low pay jobs. Never should they die like dogs in the street because they can’t afford the right treatment. Never should they have to live in shambles across the street from penthouses and billionaires. Never should they have toxic and medical waste dumped into their community because they have no lobbyists and lawyers to fight back. Never should their blocks be bombed and their loved ones slain to fuel a war waged by the rich but fought by the poor. Never should they be treated as a commodity to be bought, exploited and sacrificed.
