Never thought Id write an apocalyptic novel, though two of them - TopicsExpress

Never thought Id write an apocalyptic novel, though two of them impressed me mightily when I read them back in the early 1980s. The first was Stephen Kings The Stand, rightly hailed as a masterpiece. The second was The Ceremonies, by T.E.D. Klein, which deserves to be much better known than it is. King achieved his apocalypse through plague and Klein his through a series of potent pagan rituals. When the time came to try to orchestrate mine, it was always going to be the biblical warning coming to pass of The End of Days. I dont mind research, but it would have been wasteful to ignore the stuff picked up during 7 years spent, from the age of 7, as a Catholic altar boy. You should play to your strengths. Theres also the fact that when I saw the Movie The Exorcist at the age of 14, it scared the crap out of me because it seemed plausible. It played to my belief system, as did The Omen a couple of years later. Theres a demonic character in The Stand name Randall Flagg, also referred to as The Walkin Dude. To anyone who has read the book, hes unforgettable. I wouldnt for a moment compare myself to Mr. King, a writer I regard as without equal at what he does. But in The Lazarus Prophecy I have my own demonic character in Edmund Caul and its fair to say he can boast a distinguished bloodline. He doesnt, despite boasting coming naturally to him. Discretion better suits him on the subject of who he really is and the vexed question of where hes really from. Less than a month to go till publication. The audiobook coming out a bit later on in September. The nights are already closing and Im Really exceed about this one.
