Never underestimate how the stresses in life can affect your training. It’s not just about the hours and intensity of swimming, biking, and running (or GPP’ing). Between living with the realities of a chronic disease, mom’s battle with cancer, and getting hit with a car, the past 7 months have been HARD. Physically, I had reached a point where everything and anything hurt. I was absolutely depleted, wrecked, and in pain. I couldn’t train. I couldn’t recover. It took every ounce of energy just to get myself out of bed. For 5 weeks after the crash, my prayers had become a plea just to get through the next hour (I share this only because I know it could help someone else). My advice is to BE KIND TO YOUR BODY. Accept that some days (and injuries) will be harder than others. Accept the fact that you might be sidelined for a while….and that’s ok. This isn’t going to last forever. The pain that takes you out today will not take you down tomorrow. You WILL get back up and back in the game. Maybe very unexpectedly the next day or on a random weekend… You never know when things will start to look up and feel better. One day at a time, friends. Rest when you need to and fight when you can. Just keep on keepin’ on.
