Neville Soccer Teams Defeat West Ouachita... Monroe, LA (Bill Ruple Stadium) The No. 7 Neville Lady Tiger soccer team battled the frigid temperatures Thursday night with rapid fire offense en route to a 5-1 district win over West Ouachita at Bill Ruple Stadium. After playing to a 1-1 tie at halftime on goals by the Lady Tigers’ Brooke Breard and the Lady Chiefs’ AnnaLee Heckford, Neville coach Bret Sanders challenged his squad to buckle down and take advantage of the opportunities they got. “We knew we were in for a fight,” Sanders said. “We had to capitalize on our opportunities and finish.” Neville did just that after halftime as they scored four unanswered goals to take control of the district lead with a meeting at West Ouachita coming next week. Breard scored her second goal of the game, while Maya Turner netted a pair of goals just minutes apart, and Emerson Heflin finished off the scoring for the Lady Tigers (19-1-1). “Neville hustled more than we did,” West Ouachita coach Michelle Norred said. “We were trying to play their style of play, and it doesn’t work for us. They were more physical than we were.” +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ TIGERS POUND CHIEFS: The Neville Tigers routed West Ouachita 9-0 on Thursday. Michael Green scored the hat trick with three goals. Harrison Travis had two goals, and the Tigers got one goal each from John Mitchell McDuffie, Cole Williamson and Thomas Green. “We controlled the game, and I liked our pace,” Neville coach Ben Rogers said. “ I told our guys after the game, it was the most fun I have had this season, because of our execution and the ways we created chances (to score).” Neville lead 6-0 at the halftime break, and the teams agreed to a shortened second half. CONGRATULATIONS TIGERS! WE ARE TIGER PROUD OF YOU!
