A company from South Williamsburg, Brooklyn purchased the rural property in eastern Sullivan County in October for $1.7 million, according to county records. The company listed as purchasing the resort that offered everything from juice fasting to healing stone therapy is 757-767 Bedford LLC. The spa closed down regular operations in 2011, though it did host some yoga classes on the property, according to its Facebook page. Plans for the property, with several buildings surrounded by woods, are unclear. Town officials and some area residents were aware the spa was sold but said they have not been contacted by the new owners. They also are unsure as to who is behind the company. The spas former owner, Stephanie Paradise, who lives on the property, could not be immediately reached for comment. A Google map search for the new owners address in Brooklyn showed an awning marked Williamsburg Pediatric Dental at 390A Berry Street. A woman who answered the phone there said she knew nothing about Bedford LLC. The company purchased seven parcels that amount to more than 230 acres of the spa land, with three of the parcels in the Neversink and Rondout reservoir watersheds. The New York City Department of Environmental Protection has conservation easements on those parcels, so development on that land is prohibited, leaving only a fraction of the spa land for development.
