New Age Spirituality may have more of a connection to what Jesus - TopicsExpress

New Age Spirituality may have more of a connection to what Jesus taught and believed than many fundamentalists want or dare to acknowledge. Evangelicals tend to preach Jesus, but not always what Jesus preached, which wasnt Jesus or salvation, but Love of God, Others and Self. He was looking forward to higher consciousness and said he would be with them until the end of that age. (Matt 28:20) In Luke 22:10, Jesus is recorded to have said to his disciples: As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters…. Some interpret that statement as a subtle reference to the Age of Aquarius, the sign of which is a man carrying a pitcher of water. The movement, if I may call it that, aims to create a spirituality without borders or confining dogmas that is inclusive and pluralistic. I admit that the inclusion I preach/teach is little less than a modern re-presentation of the ancient wisdom of the ages and sages in history. It holds to a holistic world view emphasizing that the Mind, Body and Spirit are interrelated, and that there is a form of monism and unity throughout the universe. Monism is a theory or doctrine that denies the existence of a distinction or duality in some sphere, such as that between matter and mind, or God and the world. It is the doctrine that only one supreme being exists, but is expressed and manifested inextricably in and as all. It attempts to create a world view that includes both science and spirituality and embraces varying aspects of ancient eastern mysticism, something Christianity does as well, but is not recognized as such. There is a profound experience of God beyond and besides what your bible may seem to support. That same bible says in Hebrews 6:1-3, Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ (Christian fundamentalism) and be taken forward to maturity (KJV Go on to perfection), not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, to instruction about cleansing rites (baptisms), the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.” No need to abandon some of the old if you prefer not to; just transcend it or dont be defined by or confined to it.
