New Bailey Bridge installed in South to ease traffic woes (By Rhondor Dowlat) A $67,000 Bailey Bridge has been installed at Alma Trace Extension in Reform Village, Gasparillo. The installation of this structure is a traffic alleviation measure as the bridge now serves as a link to Bonne Aventure Road from the Guaracara/Tabaquite Road. Councillor of the Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation, the late Feraz Ali, provided invaluable assistance on behalf of the Ministry of Local Government as he obtained material as well as procured a location for a stockpile in which the bridge parts and material were stored. The Bailey Bridge was installed using in-house labour from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure as the employees from the Bridges Branch-South spear-headed this project. The bridge was installed in just six days, beginning on July 5 and ending on July 10. This bridge will allow commuters to cut their travelling time by one third. The journey averaged 30 minutes, especially during peak periods, but now estimated to be reduced to ten minutes.
