New Canada Immigration News update April 24, 2014 This New Immigration Program is for Immigrant in Canada or Permanent Residency (PR) and NOT FOR TEMPORARY FOREIGN WORKERS Effective May 1, 2014 Canada Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTC) The FST program is for applicants with experience in a skilled trade. As of May 1, 2014, the FST program will be accepting a maximum of 5,000 applications for review. All NOC B level trades will be eligible for this program. This amounts to a total of 90 different occupations such as the following: 1. pipefitter 2. welder 3. ironworker 4. electrician 5. carpenter/scaffolder 6. millwright 7. Crane operators 8. Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic 9. Concrete Finisher 10. Instrument Technician 11. Insulator 12. Structural Steel and Plate Fitter 13. Plumber 14. Heavy Equipment Operator 15. Machinist, 16. Transport, Heavy & Bus Drivers, etc. Federal Skilled Trades Program applications are assessed based on an applicants ability to become economically established upon immigration to Canada. NOTE: A maximum of 8,000 applications will be accepted under this program. Please fill out a free online assessment today to determine if you qualify. The new Federal Skilled Trades Program (FTSC) will allow individuals with job offers or appropriate certification to work in certain occupations to obtain Canadian Permanent Residency in any Canadian Province or Territory other than Quebec. In order to qualify for a Canada Immigration (Permanent Resident) Visa, Canadian Federal Skilled Trades (Professional) applicants must fulfill the following minimum requirements: Have offers of employment from up to two employers in Canada of at least one year duration OR a Certificate of Qualification from a provincial or territorial body; Provide proof of basic language proficiency from a designated language testing organization, demonstrating that the applicant meets the minimum threshold set by the Minister (Canadian Level Benchmark (CLB) 5 for speaking and listening, 4 for reading and writing); Have obtained twenty-four months of qualified work experience in the skilled trade in the last five years; and Be able to demonstrate the skills and experience and that they have performed the essential duties of the occupation. All NOC B level occupations will be eligible for this program. This amounts to a total of 90 eligible occupations. Federal Skilled Trades Announcements The FST program is for applicants with experience in a skilled trade. As of May 1, 2014, the FST program will be accepting a maximum of 5,000 applications for review. All NOC B level trades will be eligible for this program. This amounts to a total of 90 different occupations. A maximum of 100 applications will be accepted under any single occupation.
