New City Ordinance: At the September 8, 2014 city council meeting - TopicsExpress

New City Ordinance: At the September 8, 2014 city council meeting the council voted to adopt an ordinance that limits the time that a pet can be unattended on a tethering device. This new ordinance allows pets to be tied up for a maximum of one hour at a time followed by three hours off the chain or rope. In addition, animal pens must be adequately sized, be constructed in a workmanlike manner, and must contain a weatherproof enclosure of sufficient size, fresh water, and shade. We know that there are a few residents in Iola that tether their dogs full time, these individuals will be given a period of 30 days to construct an enclosure for their outside pets or to otherwise comply with the new ordinance. If you have any questions regarding this action or would like a copy of the new ordinance, please contact our office. We appreciate your cooperation during this time.
