New Facilities proposed for Skerries Townpark Council - TopicsExpress

New Facilities proposed for Skerries Townpark Council officials have presented a draft improvement plan to me for Skerries Townpark. Skerries is designated an age friendly town. The plan improves accessibility and facilities. Plan includes the following * New Children;s playground beside the Skerries Mills Car Park * New active sports area -Basketball size suitable for various sports and training * New active outside gym training area with equipment, located near the tennis courts/bowling green * Relocation of the current viewing and feeding area for the Ducks and Swans, with a new platform proposed located in the pond # Extension Community Centre Discussions are ongoing with the Skerries Community Association and The Scouts group, Skerries Lawn Tennis Club and The Bridge club, regarding a new extension at the rear of the Skerries Community Association premises, to accommodate all of these clubs in a new extension * Removal of the large green containers at Skerries park( currently problem anti social area) in consultation with the soccer club on a new arrangement It is a very exciting plan for major amenity improvements in this key town centre park in a very accessible location in Skerries. I will support funding for these improvements at council level and at central government level. An announcement was made recently, that part of the €200m from the sale of the lotto licence would be allocated to sports projects said Cllr OLeary
