New Finds at the Maya Site of Xno’ha in Belize Maya Research Program archaeologists excavated an elite Maya residential complex at the site of Xno’ha in Belize. They also found ceramics dating to 400 BCE-600 CE. The elite structures were around a central plaza, vaulted, and multi-roomed. Phytolith analysis of the residue in four vessels showed they contained marine sponges, leaves, palm fruits, plant oils. They found an Early Classic tomb with marine shells and a jade bead. The research will study the relationship between elites and between elites and commoners in Maya society.
