New Focus For Tourism Development In Carriacou And Petit Martinique A female will head the new Grenada Tourism Authority. While not stating her name, Consultant Noel Lynch said she is neither Grenadian nor Barbadian. Speaking to stakeholders in Carriacou about the transition of the Grenada Board of Tourism to the Grenada Tourism Authority from December 10th, 2013, he said Carriacou and Petite Martinique will no longer be an “afterthought” in the marketing of the tri-island state but will be a part of the main marketing core. Lynch, a former Tourism Minister from Barbados noted that the present office structure which includes a Product Development Officer will be disbanded and marketing executives will be hired. The new legislation which will be tabled in Parliament soon, also provides for the setting up of a Carriacou and Petite Martinique Tourism Development Committee which will have oversight and provide direction for tourism development in the twin isle parish. The Grenada Tourism Authority Bill, 2013 provides for the establishment of a Tourism Authority charged with the responsibility of developing the Tourism Industry of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique for the purpose of attracting Tourist, and other related matters.
