New Hanover County Schools to Close All Summer Programs on July 3, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. Due to Tropical Storm Arthur New Hanover County Schools will close all summer programs at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, July 3, 2014, as a safety precaution in anticipation of Tropical Storm Arthur. According to national and local weather reports, high winds and heavy rains are forecasted for the Wilmington area. The districts currently operating summer programs include: Read to Achieve Summer Camps Arts and AIG camps Drivers Education Lake Forest Academy NC Virtual Public School Williston Middle School and D.C. Virgo Preparatory Academy summer programs Athletic practices and activities Parents may contact the schools if they have any questions regarding the early dismissal. NHCS employees whose duties are designated as non-essential during emergencies will be dismissed tomorrow at 1 p.m.
