New Job Director of Risk Management - BBBH112273 Industry: Insurance Job Type: Permanent Location: Weston, Florida We are looking for a Director of Risk Management with progressive responsibility in professional liability/general liability claims management, risk management and insurance management. Responsibilities: Coordinate internal risk management activities and programs Coordinate with internal and external legal counsel and Professional Liability/General Liability carriers Oversee investigations of incidents and claims Promote containment of claims and losses through education, orientation and counseling Manage incident reporting Work daily with staff to evaluate and assess potential risk Effectively manage multiple mediations related to Medical Malpractice claims Be strategic in viewing the organization and risk related issues Establish claims standards and practice through development of Best Practice Guidelines Develop a litigation mitigation plan to control litigation expense Evaluate and develop internal controls to ensure operational effectiveness and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Assist in development of corporate policies related to Risk Mitigation and Claims Management Perform legal and regulatory research as required Maintain a strong customer service orientation Travel on a limited basis as required Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Nursing, Health Information Administration, Health Care Risk Management, Healthcare Law or related field of study. Masters Degree a plus Preference will be given to applicants who are certified as a Risk Management Professional (LHCRM, HCRM, etc.) Must have strong experience in Medical Malpractice Claims At least 10 years experience in Risk Management and/or Claims experience General knowledge of state and federal laws, rules and regulations governing healthcare, court services, mediation processes and medical malpractice. Able to independently problem solve. Effectively communicate and present information in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing. Basic project management skills
