New Job Quantity Surveyor - QS/E/DA/1/001 Industry: Building and Construction Job Type: Permanent Location: Tower Hamlets, London, England Salary: £45000 per annum + Car Allowence My client are a maintenance contractor based in Stratford, they are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to work on their social housing projects. SPECIFIC DUTIES/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES *Ensure the Companys commercial reporting process is implemented communicated consistently across the company. *Liaise and work closely with the projects Contracts Manager and Site Supervisors on all aspects of the project. *Assist the Contracts Manager and Site Supervisors on legal and financial aspects to reduce the Companys exposure to risk. *To audit the contract documents and bring any discrepancies to the attention of the Director / Contracts Manager. *Produce an accurate cash flow forecasts based on the contract/project programme and update as work proceeds. *Produce a detailed cost plan / buying schedule for the each project. *To identify the most appropriate work packages and sub-contractors and agree same with Contract and Site Management *Ensure sub-contract/supplier orders are placed in line with projects financial targets, the programme and/or procurement schedule. Ensure adequate quotations are available for comparison giving due regard to value and programme. Ensure a comprehensive analysis is undertaken on all quotations to take into account omissions and qualifications. *Ensure all orders are issued in line with company procedures and include all relevant documents, dates, terms and conditions. Ensure in liaison with Contracts Manager and Site *Supervisors that all technical matters are identified and addressed. *To liaise with procurement manager to ensure that all sub-contractors appointed to the works have been assessed in accordance with the companys procedures. *Produce and issue valuations in accordance with the contract documents, including cost valuation reconciliation to the Accounts Manager within 7 days of the valuation date or month end. *Produce and maintain an ongoing Draft Final Account, and submit the same with each valuation to ensure the Client is kept fully informed of their obligations. *Comprehensively assess sub-contractors/supplier accounts and produce sub-contractor payment certificates in line with Company terms and conditions. *Issue Withholding Notices in good time against applications or invoices where appropriate to do so - in line with construction act *Ensure subcontractor final account statements are received prior to their final payment being released. *Report to the Director on financial and operational issues and as appropriate. *Undertake commercial audits and manage, maintain audited standards. Lead the drive for continual improvement of these standards throughout the company *To monitor, evaluate and review commercial reporting criteria, develop and implement new policy and procedure documents as required. *To develop and deliver basic commercial training sessions for Contracts managers, front line employees, including sub-contractors. *Liaise with HR for initiating and coordinating training plan and updating information for personnel, audits. *To advise the senior management team on the implications of current and emerging financial legislation, including evaluating options, making recommendations and generating action plans to ensure compliance across the company. *Support managers to maintain commercial systems of work and implement best practice, including providing specialist advice, coaching and practical support as needed. *Develop a monthly SHEQ Communication Strategy for all sites and levels of staff, to include written information, tool box talks and management briefs. *To carry out audits to evaluate the effectiveness of financial reporting systems and procedures, and identify and implement improvements. *To manage the collection, storage and analysis of financial data and to produce management reports and identify trends and recommended action. *To investigate or, where appropriate, to assist others to investigate the circumstances and causes of inaccurate financial reporting and take necessary steps to prevent a recurrence, including keeping written records of the investigation and action taken. *To provide a specialist financial perspective to senior management team when developing new and existing financial, policies and procedures. *To access professional support and guidance from other relevant organisations and external sources as necessary and to develop networks for sharing information. *To participate fully in the Companys Personal Performance and Development process and to undertake training and development relevant to your job. *To adopt safe working practices in line with current Company procedures and to undertake appropriate training in Health and Safety. *To have an awareness of safeguarding policy, procedures and protocols and to attend relevant training. *To promote equality and diversity in the workplace by helping to deliver services which are accessible and appropriate to customer needs. *To represent my client in a reputable and professional manner at all times. *To maintain a high standard of customer care and to contribute towards the development of a culture of customer service excellence within the organisation. *To make suggestions that will drive forward performance, promote value for money, challenge and help resolve service delivery problems. *To contribute to the development of a respectful and mutually supportive working environment *To undertake any other duties, as requested by management, commensurate with the role.
