New KL system to facilitate project approvals Jun 3, 2013 - By Farah Wahida: In order to expedite property projects in the capital, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has unveiled a new system for processing development approvals, reported Bernama. Dubbed as ‘Kuala Lumpur Integrated Submission, Be Systematic, and Transparent’ (‘KL IS BEST’), the system will speed up the processing period to four months from six to eight months, according to city mayor Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal Talib. “Under this system, only one development approval application (needs to be) submitted to DBKL as the engineering, landscape and fire prevention plans are lumped together.” “It will also avoid conflicts and overlapping of development plans which usually occur in the One Stop Centre Secretariat or OCS system,” he noted, adding that the system aims to reduce red tape. In line with this, the authorities have selected 10 developers who will test out the new system, he said at the launch of “KL IS BEST”. They include IJM Properties, Primamuda Holdings, Ekovest Properties, KLCC Property Holdings and Continental City Sdn Bhd.
