New LNFI Principal Selected! May 5, 2014 Dear Families, Staff and Community of L’etoile du Nord French Immersion, Im pleased to let you know that L’etoile du Nord has a new principal for the 2014-15 school year. After reviewing feedback from families and an extensive search for qualified, French-speaking candidates, Fatima Lemtouni (fa TEE ma - lehm TOO nee) has been selected as principal for LNFI. Principal Lemtouni is a fluent native French speaker who also speaks three other languages – Berber, Arabic and English. She brings a wealth of experience to her new position, including a background in teaching different languages to both native and second-language English speakers. Principal Lemtouni first began her career in Saint Paul Public Schools teaching students the Arabic language at the former Arlington High School. She followed this experience with teaching positions at Wayzata High School and Sanford Middle School in Minneapolis. In addition to her experience, Principal Lemtouni has excellent credentials: Bachelor of Arts in English Linguistics from the University Mohamed V in Morocco; K-12 English as a Second Language (ESL) license from the University of Minnesota, and a Master’s in Education from the University of Minnesota. Through the end of the school year, Principal Fatima Lawson and Mr. John Osorio will work closely with Principal Lemtouni to ensure a successful transition.
