Secretary General of the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) Maarten Haijer said that this report is the 3rd to highlight the European Union’s intention to maintain a regulated gaming and betting system within a solid and lucrative market which offers top quality solutions to operators who seek to buy casino games and open online gambling businesses. EGBA members have declared that they are looking forward to ensure a competitive and attractive gaming and betting industry and do their best to prevent customers to turn to illegal gambling sites. On the other hand, members of the Remote Gambling Association (RGA) said that they are content with the proposal’s ideas to promote cooperation between European gaming and betting lawmakers which will lead to a more transparent market and will encourage cross border cooperation. However, the RGA commented that it is not approving the report’s intention in regard to the sports betting right, the association believing that this issue is more commercial rather than regulatory.
