New Plans for Cargo Industry Fast Tracked at Port Canaveral Big - TopicsExpress

New Plans for Cargo Industry Fast Tracked at Port Canaveral Big plans are underway at Port Canaveral in Florida, with the anticipation that by the end of 2016 construction will be complete on a 240,300sq.ft. warehouse and distribution facility for container cargo destined for the central Florida market. John Walsh, Port Canaveral CEO, said that the new warehouse will be an improvement over existing facilities as it will be designed to attract containers and import, export and distributor users who deal in volume containers. Situated adjacent to the large railway network and just south of Space Coast Regional Airport, the development, currently dubbed Titusville Logistics Center is being put together by Flagler Global Logistics as part of a 230-acre complex that will include not only cargo-related facilities but potentially other operations such as a hotel complex and retail plaza. Over the next five years the development is expected to generate at least 5,000 new jobs in the central Florida area, and as many as 10,000 over ten years. Located at the hub of space, air, rail, ocean and highway transport, container ships will be able to warehouse cargo and arrange distribution with maximum efficiency, according to Walsh. The master plan allows for multiple uses of the five parcels included, and some will ultimately be sold off to other commercial users. Port Canaveral hosts cruise ship lines as well as public beaches, campgrounds and water parks in addition to marinas, restaurants and other service industries. The 13-acre warehouse site is in Cocoa, about 12 miles from Canaveral, and port commissioners have approved its marketing as the “Port Canaveral-Cocoa Logistics Center”. sumber : worldfreightfocus/
