New Research Article Received :- Weed management in Lentil (Lens culinaris Medic. L.) in North West India Tarundeep Kaur, U S Walia, M S Bhullar, Surjit Singh and Rupinder Kaur Department of Agronomy, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana ABSTRACT The experiment was conducted at the Research Farm, Department of Agronomy, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, during the winter season of 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 to find out effective weed management in lentil on loamy sand soil. The lowest dose of oxyfluorfen 0.18 kg/ha, pendimethalin 0.50 kg/ha and trifluralin 0.50 kg/ha integrated with one hand weeding at 30 DAS was most effective in reducing the population of both broad and narrow leaf weeds and dry weight of weeds and gave maximum weed control efficiency. The integration of oxyfluorfen 0.18 kg/ha, pendimethalin 0.50 kg/ha and trifluralin 0.50 kg/ha with one hand weeding at 30 DAS and alone application of oxyfluorfen at 0.18 kg/ha produced maximum plant height, number of pods per plant and grain yield and was significantly higher than unweeded control. Application of any of these herbicides singly did not provide effective control of weeds in lentil. Key words: herbicides, lentil, weed control, yield.
