The latters résumé is wide-- even including a mostly-unused score for The Exorcist-- but hes best known for founding the synth ensemble Mother Mallards Portable Masterpiece Company. That group began in 1969 playing Moog versions of pieces by Terry Riley, Philip Glass, and Steve Reich. Soon they began composing their own music and experimenting with newer electronics, something they continue to do today. Such openness to sounds and ideas comes through on the five pieces here, which are impressively varied despite being pretty uncomplicated. Mamuthones / Evil Blizzard - Collisions Vol. 4 LP - Rocket Recordings Great split LP from Rocket. Amen Dunes - Cowboy Worship EP - Sacred Bones Amen Dunes Love took close to a year and a half, 16 musicians, and five different studios to complete. It was a song cycle that required broad experimentation before it was clear what was essential underneath the surface. Cowboy Worship is an attempt to give life to some of the music that didnt make it past the scalpel. Menace Beech - Ratworld LP - Memphis Industries Hotly tipped Indie-psych.
