New Video Demonstrates Cortana Running on Windows 10 It was only a matter of time before Cortana made the transition to the desktop, and a new video from WinBeta demonstrates exactly how it’ll work. Things are unsurprisingly buggy at this point—Windows 10 isn’t expected to be released until later next year—but it’s great to see Microsoft making an effort to bring its excellent virtual assistant over to the desktop. If done right, Cortana, which is already available for Windows Phone, could be one of the best new parts of Microsoft’s exciting new desktop update. WinBeta says that, at this point, Cortana can essentially do everything the Windows Phone version can. That means setting reminders, quickly calling people through Skype and more. That’s great, too, considering how useful Cortana can be. We were skeptical about Cortana fitting in in a desktop environment, but after seeing the video above, we’re excited about what’s to come. “Right now, Cortana doesn’t have a personality in Windows 10, meaning she doesn’t answer questions like ‘Who are you.’” However, we have it on good authority that she will have this ability by the time she rolls out to the public,” WinBeta writes. To get a better idea of what Cortana on the desktop is capable of, check out the video above. Windows 10 isn’t expected to launch for quite awhile, so don’t expect to be tooling around with Cortana anytime soon. For now, feel free to check out the Windows 10 Technical Preview if a taste of Microsoft’s new update is what you’re after. https://youtube/watch?v=hA0Sk28TsP8#t=135
