New Year Blessings from Revs. Mary and Austin Hennessey Ministers - Unity Spiritual Centre May this year be a time of opening more fully to the flow of grace; may it fill your heart and mind with the fullness of life, and may you experience of sense of abundance on all levels that surpasses all expectations. Roger Walsh in his profound book, Essential Spirituality, writes, What we feel within ourselves we find reflected in our world. If we are fearful, we find threats everywhere. But when love fills our minds, we see a world that yearns to love and be loved. When you look at the world, your neighbors, family, friends and co-workers - what kind of a world do you see? How do you see them? The world you see reflects your inner world. When real love pervades your mind and heart, you see a world filled with love. Jesus said, Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. Rabia, 8th century Sufi teacher, said: not to steep oneself in that love and reflect it to others is to forfeit lifes supreme beatitude. Gandhi said, love your neighbor as yourself and every living being as your neighbour. Rumi wrote, Wherever you are, whatever your condition, always try to be a lover. The Buddha said, Put away all hindrances, Let your mind full of love pervade the whole wide world, Above, below, around and everywhere, Altogether continue to pervade with love-filled thought, Abounding, sublime, beyond measure. Some years ago, Mother Teresa was to address the United Nations at their 40th anniversary celebration. There was one problem; the United Nations has a rule that no prayers are said there. A mere rule was not going to stop Mother Teresa. She marched to the podium, prayed and delivered her message of love. She said, You and I must come forward and share the joy of loving. But we cannot give what we dont have. Thats why we need to pray so that we can see God in each other. And if we see God in each other, we will be able to live in peace. What if you were to commit to finding only good in others and in all of life? Finding faults in others is pointless because the faults you consistently see in others will develop in yourself. But when you begin to see the loving nature in others, such seeing expands your own loving nature. When the divine energy of love illumines your mind and heart, love gives new life to every cell in your being, removing all negative states that previously were the barriers to love. We are each a center of vibrant energy. Lets radiate the energy of love and so bring peace and understanding to our world.
