New Year, New Start Fancy a challenge in 2015? Become a Special Constable Special Constables are volunteers who are fully trained to carry out a variety of roles alongside regular officers to help police their communities. They have the same powers as regular police officers (e.g. being able to arrest) and when on duty wear a similar uniform and face the same challenges. The role is part-time and can be fitted around other work or personal commitments. You will be asked to commit to a minimum of four hours each week (average of 16 hours per month), but can do more if you are able. Becoming a Special Constable gives you the chance to give something back to the local community, learn new skills and gain valuable experience. Youll discover a lot you did not know about yourself and youll learn just how much you are really capable of. If you are over 18 and think you could become a Special Constable then check out this new video, developed by both forces, to help you decide whether it’s the right volunteering opportunity for you…youtu.be/T4QOykJMSuE.
