New Years Day in 1942 marked the beginning of the United Nations. History buffs may recognize this as less than a month after the attack on Pearl Harbor, and this is no coincidence. With the US freshly entered into the war, the Allied Powers thought it best to create an organization that could confront and negotiate with the Axis powers in unison. Thus 28 separate nations that day signed the document creating the United Nations which would in turn become an international organization dedicated to ensure life, liberty, independence and religious freedom and to preserve the rights of man and justice.
