New Year’s Day Benj asked me to put together a New Year’s Day message from us and I couldn’t think of a thing to say all week. Not sure how I felt about all the resolutions, high fives, and reflecting. Wasn’t sure it should matter so much. I tell everyone I believe a new day is a new day, another chance at life like any other morning, and January 1st should be no different than March 23rd. But, that’s just a bunch of crapola. New Year’s Day is different, and it should be. I know this because when I woke up early this morning, my little boy tapping on my back, faint ache in my head, Sinatra’s “New York, New York” ringing in my ear, I felt brand new, genuinely inspired to get out of bed and push further into good rather than backward into bad, hungry to put my head down and bust through another year in this crazy world. The only thing I know for sure in this entire life is that I have today, right now, that’s it, and I’m going to enjoy it. Bringing in this New Year with my O.A.R. family in New York City Times Square gave me what the holiday is supposed to give all of us. A morning of hope and renewed energy to take another first step in the right direction.
