Today, Monday, October 28, at 7:00 p.m. Israeli time (between 6 and 7 hours ahead of U.S. Eastern time), outside the Ofer Prison on Jerusalem’s northern edge, Road 443, an Israeli human chain will be formed to block the release of 26 convicted Arab Palestinian terrorists. Israelis have 48 hours to protest against and stop their release. As Lori Lowenthal Marcus writes in her following piece, Ofer is where the Palestinian Arab prisoners are being assembled in the next 24-36 hours, prior to being released. . . . [and] Israelis [are] outraged by the continued release of murderers . . . The protest has been organized by Almagor, the terror victims’ association, the Likud young leadership division, the young leadership of Habayit Hayehudi, and the nationalist faction of the Likud. Bereaved families and some government ministers are expected to participate, reports Lori. The release of these prisoners came as part of a deal the Israeli government made to resume the diplomatic negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Never mind the absurdity of the idea of peace in exchange for terrorists as a precondition just to sit down at the table? Nevertheless, 100 convicted Palestinian Arab terrorists were already released on August 26, 2013 as part of this misguided peace deal. The list of names of those who will be released was posted Sunday evening, Oct. 27, Lori continues. That posting began a 48-hour period during which people can protest the release of individual prisoners. Amer, a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, is one of them. He was convicted of hacking to death an Israeli Jewish lawyer, Ian Feinberg, who worked in Gaza, seeking to cultivate ties to the local Palestinian community while trying to promote economic projects, concludes Lori.
