New York City is still reeling from the arbitrary way the Department of Health has instituted new mandates regarding flu vaccines for preschool children. Now the Speaker of the City Council wants NEW YORK STATE to pass a law allowing children to be vaccinated with HPV without parental consent. Given the poor risk-to-benefit ratio of this particular vaccine and the devious vaccine marketing strategies (*cough* brainwashing) that happens in schools today, this is a recipe for disaster. Bills of this type have been successfully defeated in the past, but with the backing of powerful people from New York City may be given a huge boost. In addition, whats to stop the City Board of Health stealing further parental rights if they think they have the support of the NY City Council? John Gilmore of the Autism Action Network checked the City Council website. This resolution was sent to the Committee on Women and the Health Committee and has 19 sponsors. We need to use this as a way to educate the City Council members on vaccine issues, including the fu shot mandate, which completely bypassed the Council. He needs help. He has a list of about 1600 vaccine rights supporters in the City that he can direct to state and federal politicians, but not city politicians. He needs to run the addresses of these people through the city council website so we can hook people up with their city council member. Anybody available to run 50 or a 100 addresses? This may seem like it will only matter to folks who live in New York City, but this law would directly affect families all over the state. And other cities and states will be quick to jump on the bandwagon if New York City or State goes down.
