New York. Home again. Walked into the airport terminal where I hear 2 officers talking about food, and oregano. I smile. The people here talk like me. They walk like me. They are familiar in a way the South will never be to me. Waiting for our pick up, I quip with Chief at the airport for a bit. Nice looking man, hes got a silver haired ClarkKent do going on with the obligatory square jaw. Cant complain about that ever lool. I can see the Italian and the Irish. I can see the New York. Hes talking to Officer Redhead, who is taking his chinese food order. Im reminded of Ambadi, a tiny shop with amazing Indian food on E Post Road. I mention the spot telling them I how crave a meal there. I only eat Indian when I come home as even Stately Charleston doesnt know how thats properly done. The owners of Ambadi are the progeny of the incomparable Bengal Tiger restaurant which sadly burned down in 2010. These place was so lovely in appearance, exotic and serene, and their food was lauded by reviewers all the way downtown. I have such great memories from there. I accepted a proposal of marriage there. Baby always knew he had me at tikka masala. So, I cant think about that place without a smile sneaking across my face and Im just so grateful the boys have continued their familys great food tradition. I am home. They say home is where the heart is. I will pay attention to my own while I am here. I will consider where my heart might beckon me. In the meantime, I wish yall the Happiest Merry!! I wish for all of us to find our way home.~
