New York Jets: Fighting on Day Two and Injuries Create More Roster Shuffling Well the New York Jets, like all NFL teams, are days into training camp, two to be exact, and the first fight has broken out. Cornerback Antonio Cromartie and wide receiver Vidal Hazelton were tussling with each other during a drill. Two other players went at each other as well. Despite the circus atmosphere seems to have left the New York Jets while in Cortland, NY during training camp this year the player fighting has begun. As reported by Jane McManus at the ESPNNewYork blog Antonio Cromartie looking to assert his leadership on defense with the departure of Darrelle Revis to Tampa Bay, and Bart Scott no longer being with the team, threw a punch at his teammate wide receiver Vidal Hazelton during drills on day two. Coaches separated the two players to break up the tussle. Also cornerback Donnie Fletcher and wide receiver Clyde Gates could be seen going it during practice. The Jets also made some more roster moves by activating cornerback Mike Edwards, defensive tackle Junior Aumavae and running back Joe McKnight from the PUP list. This left safety Rontez Miles and wide receiver Santonio Holmes as the only left on the physically unable to perform list. Defensive lineman Jake McDonough who was put right on the PUP list on day one was released and fellow lineman Leger Douzable was re-signed to replaced him. Also running back Chad Spann was added for depth at a position rife with injuries and the absence of Mike Goodson. Finally corner Aaron Berry was officially place on injured reserve ending his 2013 season. Also since cornerback Dee Milliner is the only draft pick left unsigned and apparently holding out despite the rookie pay scale of the new CBA, the New York Jets are left thin at corner. So far 2013 has gotten off to a bit of a rocky start for head coach Rex Ryan who most pundits would say is on the hot seat this season. Lets hope the training staff can get the players healthy quick and the team can focus on being a team instead of trading punches with each other.
