New York, June 27, 2014: During his farewell dinner hosted by Malaysian Association of America, outgoing Consul General of Malaysia New York, Mr. Syed Bakri Al-Jufri ( Syed Mohammed Bakri Syed Abdul Rahman) was presented with a Proclamation awarded to him by Senator Martin J Golden of the 22nd Senate District (R-C-I, Brooklyn). The proclamation was read by Katie Wong (Senators Community Representative) and Shamil Norshidi (President of UMNO Club New York-New Jersey). Throughout the years, MAA had done outstanding work to promote friendship and strengthen economic and cultural relations between Malaysia and the city of New York. Mr. Syed Bakri Al-Jufri had served as an adviser to MAA for the last 3 years. Mr. Bakri served as Malaysia Consul General New York for 2 years 11 months since 2011. Attendees included representatives from Consulate, United Nations, UMNO New York-Connecticut, UMNO New Jersey, Tourism, Maybank, Bank Negara and MalayUSA. Halal chicken & beef were special ordered for this event by Asian Jewels Restaurant from a nearby Halal meat supplier. We bid farewell to Tuan CG Syed Al-Bakri (or better known here as Orang Kola Nerang). Thank you for your friendship and contributions to our community.
