New York Residency: Open Call for Middle East and North Africa 07/03/2014 - Posted by IETM The International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in Brooklyn, New York and Edge of Arabia in partnership with Art Jameel announces an open call for artists currently living and working full time in the Middle East and North Africa. One or two artists will be selected to undertake a three- to six-month residency at ISCP between July 1 and December 31, 2014 that includes participation in ISCP, a stipend for accommodation and living expenses in New York City and travel costs. This residency is the first between ISCP and Edge of Arabia, and provides an unprecedented opportunity for artists living and working in the Middle East and North Africa to engage with ISCP’s dynamic programming and creative community. ISCP is a leading nonprofit, residency-based contemporary art institution for emerging to mid-career artists and curators from around the world, including the United States. With more than 30 artists and curators in residence at all times, the program provides residents with the space, time, and support to develop new projects. With additional activities tailored for professional development and public engagement, ISCP serves as an important platform for producing, presenting and contextualizing contemporary art through a diverse range of international perspectives. ISCP’s public programs encourage dialogue and integrates residents into the cultural community of New York City. The residency includes 24-hour access to a private 250 sq. ft. furnished studio space, regular studio visits from Visiting Critics; Field Trips to museums, galleries and other cultural institutions; and participation in ISCP Talks. Residents at ISCP are also invited to take part in ISCP’s Exhibition Program and Participatory Projects.
