New blog post up on alohakekai.org !! After representing for 808Cleanups at Kokua Foundation’s MLK day cleanup, I headed over to my favorite lil spot - Makai research pier. I realized that this spot is my “Kuulei Cliffs” my #1 problem area for AKK. If not maintained, there is so much line that gets caught on the reef and lots of plastic and glass shards in the water. There are dozens of lead sinkers that get caught in the reef. Multiple trash items stuck in the reef right next to sea cucumbers, fish, urchins, and eels. There isn’t a trash can here, so locals have some bags set up, but a great deal of trash is thrown into the sand and the sea because people won’t carry it out with them. This week I’ll be complaining to Mayor Caldwell’s office & asking if they can install a trash can here. Looks like I have some spring cleaning to do ;)
