New discovery: Danny wears a jersey numbered 42, and he briefly watches with Wendy the Robert Mulligan film Summer of 42. Forty-two is 21 doubled (1921, 21 pictures on the gold corridor wall). The number 12 is a mirror image for 21, the radio call number for the Overlook is KDK 12, and the two screen titles for part three (8 am and 4 pm) add up to 12, which means that the film both duplicates and reverses the numbering of 2001 if you omit the zeroes. In 2001, we learn that HALs birthday (the day he became operational in Urbana, Illinois) is 12 January 1992, wich not only reverses the numerical title of the film (12) but, if added together, the years numbers (1+9+9+2) equal 21. Room 217 in the novel is 237 in the film. The numbers 237 added together equal 12.
