New life!! Its been a while since we had a decent M-class flare, but Region 2149 (N12E77) that recently rotated onto the visible disk, seems to want to change all of that. At 21/1331 UTC (21/0931 EDT), Region 2149 produced a nice M3/Sf flare (video below), bringing a little life back to the sun. Now that most of the geomagnetic activity from the 15 Aug coronal mass ejection has subsided, we are closely monitoring this new region to see if it wants to give us something new to talk about. This region was quite active on the non-Earth side of the Sun, and has produced a multitude of flares in the past 12 hours. Stay tuned to see what it does as it rotates closer to center disk!
