New photo exhibition in Jaramana shows continued cultural activities in defiance of mortar attacks ===================================== People of Jaramana city have shown many ways to defy the terrorists’ incessant mortar attacks on the city which keep them on edge being always haunted by the fear of mortar shells falling on their heads day or night. One of those ways is to cling on to life and not give up on their usual cultural and artistic activities, the latest of which was a photograph exhibition organized on Monday by the Cultural Center in Jaramana in cooperation with the branch of the Arab writers Union in Damascus Countryside. The exhibits included thirty photographs taken by photographer Hayyan Hamsho. The photos focused on the heritage of Mount Jabal al-Arab and the surrounding villages and areas in Sweida and the archeological monuments and cultural features in the southern province. “I have put all my efforts to attempt to depict all the wonderful intricate details of the villages and grottos of Jabal al-Arab and the cultural and historical heritage of the area and the social intimacy among the residents there,” artist Hamsho said. He pointed out that he tried to present the photos in a spontaneous and precise way and that he took them from different angles and distances. “I took into consideration spaces and dimensions and tried to combine all the components of a photo for it to be appealing and convincing to the audience,” said Hamsho. Plastic artist Hikmat Abu Hamdan, who visited the exhibition, said that artist Hamsho “came up with a new artistic reflection of popular heritage in a creative way using harmonious colors style.”
