After years of playing in different bands, four friends from Tacoma, WA came together to create a sound that was both introspective yet existential. Happy yet sad. Quiet yet heavy. Inspired by first and second generation instrumental acts such as [ Mogwai ], [ Explosions in the Sky ], [ This Will Destroy You ], and [ Caspian ], Compass & Knife set out to write and perform music that would provoke a wide spectrum of human emotions. Their first EP, Break the Bow Shatter the Spear, was released in September 2014. Compass & Knife are currently releasing a four-part live series throughout December 2014 entitled The Broken Bow Sessions.
