Lost in a string of days spent breaking effect pedals and nights watching stars, waiting for the sky to fall. Neil Carey and Warren Ard recently finished their first ep A Place To Land, blurring an array of sounds into a lovely mess. Guitars and synths bleed together, building walls of decay and delay. Though not as big and swirling from the likes of [ My Bloody Valentine ] or [ Slowdive ], [ The Starlight Run ] shows more of an attempt to put advanced song structure and melody in place. Rather than just crafting infinitely appealing / occasionally thunderous mood music. It’s more more of a cross between [ Galaxy 500 ] and [ Cocteau Twins ]. It is even difficult to say whether everything is simplified, or even better magnified while the ebb and flows portrait legendary shoegaze artists such as [ Ride ], [ Pale Saints ], [ The Jesus and Mary Chain ] dwelling all over this record. It’s not an album I’d choose to miss out on guys, especially if you dig the early 90’s shoegaze era.
