New ranger to lead Tongue Ranger District Sheridan, Wyo. (January 21, 2015) – The Bighorn National Forest is pleased to welcome Amy Ormseth as the district ranger for the Tongue Ranger District in Sheridan, Wyoming. In the coming months, Amy hopes to focus on connecting with local communities and working with the broad array of user groups and constituents to engage them in local management strategies. Amy’s background is in engineering and she has held various positions with the Forest Service in Nebraska, Idaho, Wyoming, and most recently, on the Pike and San Isabel National Forests and Cimarron/Comanche National Grasslands in Salida, Colorado. She graduated from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology with a bachelor’s of science in civil engineering and a minor in geology. Amy grew up in the panhandle of Nebraska and loved being outdoors on her grandparents’ ranch and spending many summers in the Black Hills and Pine Ridge areas of Nebraska and South Dakota. Now, she enjoys sporting events, hunting, fishing, and all outdoor activities with her husband and three sons.
