New start date is February 1. Submission deadline is just before midnight the night on January 31. Okay... heres how it works. You pick 15 people who you think may kick the bucket between Feb. 1 and Dec. 20. If that person dies during the allotted time, you get 1 point; if you were the only person in the group to have selected that dearly departed individual, then he or she is an exclusive, and you get 2 points. The rules for picking people are simple: they must be real (no fictional characters like Bruce Wayne); they cannot currently be in a coma; they cannot be on Death Row; no animals (racehorses, beloved pooches, etc.). When the person dies, his or her obituary must be carried in a prominent daily newspaper - a Queens Tribune obituary doesnt count. The contest deadline for submission is 11:59 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015. The tallying starts at 12:01 a.m. on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015. We will monitor the news for a few days following the completion of the contest for the discovery of somebody who wasnt reported on time. When making your selections, submit 15 names and two alternates, just in case one or two of the people on your list die between the time you submit your names and the start time of the contest. As soon as all the lists are submitted, I will generate a spreadsheet and some other electronic forms of viewing, and share this with every participant so we can all keep track of our morbid curiosity. Anybody who joins this game should also submit their e-mail (this is especially important for people I dont personally know or who are new to the game) so we can be sure that you are kept up to date. The entry fee is $25. First Place gets 60%, Second Place gets 30% and third place gets 10%. This past year, the First Place Payout was $300. Questions, comments, concerns?
